An 8-week study of the principles and practices of leadership for Christian ministry. It includes reflections on the role and ministry of leaders within church, community, and denomination.
Competencies
To train and develop church leaders in the proper interpretation of the Bible and application of its truth within the life and ministry of the church
To model effective leadership skills and appropriate relationships with the staff, church members and other members of the community, and to develop these skills in other church leaders by helping them to be motivated, communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and develop ongoing leadership improvement plans
To lead the church to adopt a working model for calling out, training, equipping, and developing church leaders in the areas of teaching skills and age-appropriate methods for the church’s educational programs
Goals
Demonstrate a working knowledge of several working definitions and models of leadership;
Be aware of a larger body of materials and tools related to leadership in ministry;
Gain a general and growing understanding of the basic principles of leadership in general and servant leadership in particular;
Apply principles and theories of leadership to personal leadership settings;
Possess ample bibliographical materials to guide future study of the course’s contents; and
Have an expanding appreciation for leadership in the Church and personal Christian life.
