“The just shall live by faith.” They are words which changed the world as the Apostle Paul preached the message of the crucified and resurrected Christ through the Book of Romans. They are words which sparked a Reformation as Martin Luther rediscovered the gospel and challenged the Roman Catholic Church, even in the face of death.

Join Dr. Randall Worley in an exegetical study of Romans, the foundational book of Pauline theology. In this course—ideal for the lay leader or long-serving minister—primary attention is given to the form and content of the text itself. Discover the historical context of the letter to the church at Rome, its distinctive literary traits, and the application of its truth in our own setting.

Let us help you enhance your skills in delivering the life-changing message of Romans in your pulpit or other ministry setting.

Competencies

  • Engaging reading strategies in the use of Scripture that enhance personal growth, critical awareness, and lifelong learning.
  • Appropriating the historic witness of the Scripture in its ancient setting by an adequate study of the literature, history, and culture of the Bible.
  • Expounding upon the meaning of biblical texts using proper methods and principles of exegesis informed by historic Christian practice and responsive to current needs.
  • Interpreting diverse portions of the biblical canon in terms of the whole of Scripture, seeking unity between the two testaments, so that the Bible may bear its full witness in theological reflection and worship by the church.
  • Preparing and communicating sermons or lessons that are biblically and homiletically sound.
  • Establishing a program of self-criticism for improvement and exchange with those who listen.
  • Communicating biblical truth through preaching, teaching, writing, and personal testimony, or through music, worship, and other appropriate means.
